Via-Rail expresses the concerns of people and works towards a healthy customer relationship. Now, they are taking a step further and helping the environment . Via calls this the "Green Choice". In fact, one of Via-rails key goals is to actively manage operations in an environmentally sustainable and responsible manner.
Via's daily operations:
1. Ensuring regulatory compliance
2. Reducing fuel consumption.
3. Efficiently manage waste using VIA's environmental Management System (EMS).
Since 1990, Via has cut fuel consumption by 25% per passenger-kilometer and green house gas emissions by 15%.
Via has implemented 'reduce, reuse and recycle' strategies in the workplace and on board Via's trains. Such as recycled paper used on board is used for napkins and toilet paper and printed materials such as train schedules.
Coffee is 100% fail trade coffee, which supports environmentally sustainable agriculture.
FACT: The transportation industry was responsible for 26% of greenhouse gases in Canada in 2005.
------> VIA was responsible for only 0.03%
